I am currently a part time, second year doctoral researcher at SOAS in London, researching how music can be used to sustain, revive and revitalise Ainu language and culture.
As well as my interest in sustaining languages and cultures, I play shamisen and sing in the SOAS Min'yo group, which perfoms regularly in the UK at Japanese festivals such as the Japan Matsuri and Hyper Japan, and at Japanese Embassy events.
Previously I gained my PGCE in Music at Roehampton, a Masters in Social Anthropology at UCL and my BA in Japanese and Music at SOAS. For the past nine years I have worked as a Music and SEN teacher in a variety of schools in London.
